Do you have an email list?

If no, why not?

If yes, do you have a system set up to deliver emails?

An email list is critical to the growth of your business. Social media is not a replacement to emails.

I still giggle when I see people post something once to their Facebook page/profile to let people know that they are going to take a day off tomorrow thinking that their people will see it. Guess what? It's not happening. You have a much better chance for someone to open your email and read it then you do using social media.

Don't get me wrong, social media is a fabulous tool, but it doesn't work the way most use it.

Using your gmail, Yahoo, etc.

Sending emails via a gmail, yahoo, etc. using the bcc is not the professional way to be sending your emails. And if you get reported as spam you can lose your account.

Are You Using the Right Pictures?

Pictures! I'm talking about pictures you use for your social media and websites. The right picture can say a thousand words and the wrong picture can say one word.......ehh.

Be sure that you choose pictures that emphasize what you are wanting to convey. Just with graphics, your pictures need to be high quality and look amazing.

Some Tips

When taking pictures be sure your lighting is good. Be sure that you have a good angle of the thing you're photographing.

You'd be amazed at how awesome a photo you can get from your phone with some thoughtful planning.

This also goes for your own headshots. Try not to use a selfie, unless it's really good. And be sure its an appropriate shot for what you're business is.

If you're not a very good photographer/picture taker, hire someone. It will be worth every penny to have stellar photos.

A Tool You Can Use to Make Graphics for Free

Graphics! This week is about using graphics for your business.

When using graphics on your social media, website, etc. be sure they are clear and crisp. A huge mistake people can make is posting a picture on Facebook and its blurry, grainy, or just ick. Or their website photos are are poor quality.

You know it is said that a pictures says a thousand words.

You want the experience of your social media and/or website to be great, not mediocre.

A tool that I use 90% of the time is Canva.com. They have awesome templates you can use and their tutorials are really good.  I will say that they are behind on their Facebook covers so be sure to look up the current size, Facebook seems to change the most ideal sizes on a regular basis.

You can get free account or a paid account. I have a paid (Pro) account because there are additional features that I use all the time. However, if you're just doing graphics for your marketing, a free account should do it.

I see lots of people experiencing this and wanted to provide you with what I've learned. Everything I've listed here, Facebook will consider scamming. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are, but in Facebook's eyes it does. If they see you doing this, they may lock you out for several days.

Photos.  You either love having your photo taken or you don't.  But one thing for sure, they are important when you are building your business.  People want to see who you are, they want to get a feel for your energy.  And I have to tell you, some people really mess this one up.

So What is a Hashtag?

A hashtag is when you  place the pound sign (#) in front of a word, words or phrase you are categorizing your topic, like this: #hashtag

The use of hashtags are super popular.  However, they are often misused and overused.  Mostly by people who don’t understand how to use them and/or people who aren’t staying on top of the most recent changes on Facebook.  

Disclosure:  I personally have never used a hashtag on Facebook.  I find them to be a bit annoying and they feel intrusive to me when I’m scrolling through Facebook.  So, me being the curious person I am and the fact it was driving me bananas, started researching why people should use them and why.

Let's talk about descriptions. Here's the deal...talking about yourself, your modality, or your certifications, licenses, training, etc. is not going to get people excited about what you do.

Yes, there are a few out there who may be looking specifically for your modality, but for most people, those details may not matter. Now, in your bio, that's a whole different story.

EXAMPLE 1

Not.... I'm a life coach, hypnotherapist, reiki practitioner, psychic. I'm talking specific, result orientated, this is what I do ___________ and it will help you ____________.

This lightworkers, I believe, is one of the biggest show stoppers to moving forward in our businesses to attract clients/customers and to make money doing what we're called to do.

We've got to get this part down. Knowing without a doubt, being crystal clear in what we do and how we show up, will allow us to create the energy within ourselves to attract those clients/customers. And this is more important than anything else.

If we're not feeling/knowing/being it, we aren't going to attract our clients/customers.
