Are You Sending Emails?

email mailchimp Mar 14, 2018

Do you have an email list?

If no, why not?

If yes, do you have a system set up to deliver emails?

An email list is critical to the growth of your business. Social media is not a replacement to emails.

I still giggle when I see people post something once to their Facebook page/profile to let people know that they are going to take a day off tomorrow thinking that their people will see it. Guess what? It's not happening. You have a much better chance for someone to open your email and read it then you do using social media.

Don't get me wrong, social media is a fabulous tool, but it doesn't work the way most use it.

Using your gmail, Yahoo, etc.

Sending emails via a gmail, yahoo, etc. using the bcc is not the professional way to be sending your emails. And if you get reported as spam you can lose your account.

Best Practices

The best thing to do is to put a system in place where you can collect email addresses and send emails the proper way.

What do I mean by the "proper way"? The...

Are You Using the Right Pictures?

copyright graphics photos Mar 07, 2018

Pictures! I'm talking about pictures you use for your social media and websites. The right picture can say a thousand words and the wrong picture can say one word.......ehh.

Be sure that you choose pictures that emphasize what you are wanting to convey. Just with graphics, your pictures need to be high quality and look amazing.

Some Tips

When taking pictures be sure your lighting is good. Be sure that you have a good angle of the thing you're photographing.

You'd be amazed at how awesome a photo you can get from your phone with some thoughtful planning.

This also goes for your own headshots. Try not to use a selfie, unless it's really good. And be sure its an appropriate shot for what you're business is.

If you're not a very good photographer/picture taker, hire someone. It will be worth every penny to have stellar photos.

Where to Find Stock Photos

Stock photography is the supply of photographs, which are often licensed for specific uses.

Did you know that you don't have to take...

canva graphics social media Feb 28, 2018

Graphics! This week is about using graphics for your business.

When using graphics on your social media, website, etc. be sure they are clear and crisp. A huge mistake people can make is posting a picture on Facebook and its blurry, grainy, or just ick. Or their website photos are are poor quality.

You know it is said that a pictures says a thousand words.

You want the experience of your social media and/or website to be great, not mediocre.

A tool that I use 90% of the time is They have awesome templates you can use and their tutorials are really good.  I will say that they are behind on their Facebook covers so be sure to look up the current size, Facebook seems to change the most ideal sizes on a regular basis.

You can get free account or a paid account. I have a paid (Pro) account because there are additional features that I use all the time. However, if you're just doing graphics for your marketing, a free account should do it.

Canva has most...

facebook tips Feb 22, 2018

Have you ever found yourself in Facebook Jail?  Whether you have or haven't you'll want to know how to stay out of Facebook Jail, especially if you're using Facebook as your platform to build your business.

I see lots of people experiencing this and wanted to provide you with what I've learned. Everything I've listed here, Facebook will consider scamming. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are, but in Facebook's eyes it does. If they see you doing this, they may lock you out for several days.

Issue: Posting the same link in multiple places at one time, including pages and groups.

Solution: Space out your sharing over a period of several days. This applies to any type of link.

Issue: Posting the...

What Photo Are You Using in Your Marketing Materials?

headshots marketing' photos Feb 21, 2018

Photos.  You either love having your photo taken or you don't.  But one thing for sure, they are important when you are building your business.  People want to see who you are, they want to get a feel for your energy.  And I have to tell you, some people really mess this one up.

How many times have you seen someone's photo on social media, like Facebook and then you meet them for the first time and you're like "What?"

This picture is from stock photos that I created, but the crazy thing is.....I've seen this in real life. With a lot of marketing moving towards video, this is highlighted even more when people go live or post recorded videos.  Their profile photo looks like the one on the left and when they show up on camera we see the person on the right.   You're wondering if its the same person, right?  Same goes when you meet them in person.

Now, some of you may think this is no biggie. But it is. You're creating a brand,...

Protect Your Cell Phone Account with a New Password

When our lives are encompassed by technology, its important to be aware of cyber security issues that impact us in our personal lives as well as our professional lives.  This article will be the beginning of tips and and resources for keeping your information secure while embracing technology.

As of the date of this article, a new scam is on the rise. Fraudsters (yes, bad people) are attempting to compromise personal bank accounts by taking over and transferring phone numbers from one wireless provider to another one.

It's a scheme that is affecting the entire wireless industry. You should be getting a text from your provider telling you about this issue. They'll tell you what you need to do to help protect yourself.

I received a text from T-Mobile last week that asked me to call their 800 number and create a new password so I can protect my account.  Currently, most providers will ask you for the last 4 digits of your social security number, your address and zip code...

Hashtags on Facebook - Are They Effective?

facebook hashtags Feb 19, 2018

Use #hashtags or don’t use hashtags on your Facebook posts?

It can be confusing.

It is often misunderstood.

So What is a Hashtag?

A hashtag is when you  place the pound sign (#) in front of a word, words or phrase you are categorizing your topic, like this: #hashtag

The use of hashtags are super popular.  However, they are often misused and overused.  Mostly by people who don’t understand how to use them and/or people who aren’t staying on top of the most recent changes on Facebook.

Disclosure:  I personally have never used a hashtag on Facebook.  I find them to be a bit annoying and they feel intrusive to me when I’m scrolling through Facebook.  So, me being the curious person I am and the fact it was driving me bananas, started researching why people should use them and why.

One thing to remember when you’re researching a topic, specifically anything that is social media related – check the dates...

Create Effective Descriptions for Your Sessions & Services

Let's talk about descriptions. Here's the deal...talking about yourself, your modality, or your certifications, licenses, training, etc. is not going to get people excited about what you do.

Yes, there are a few out there who may be looking specifically for your modality, but for most people, those details may not matter. Now, in your bio, that's a whole different story.

I am a reiki practitioner, kinesiologist, sound healer, essential oil practitioner, and chakra practitioner. My sessions are wonderful and you'll really enjoy them.

A (name your thing) session will help you remove blocks, reduce stress and anxiety, create clarity and help gain confidence and inner strength. Some benefits of experiencing theses sessions are:

  • Get clear on what it is you want to accomplish
  • Find out EXACTLY what’s blocking you from achieving your goal
  • Learn how to feel the resistance in your body
  • Learn how to shift the resistance and feel a sense of clarity
  • Ability to...

Are You Clear on What You Do?

communication foundation Feb 09, 2018

Do you really know what you do?

Can you communicate clearly to others and write it out in clear and concise language? Not fluffy, esoteric, high level language. Plain english.

Not.... I'm a life coach, hypnotherapist, reiki practitioner, psychic. I'm talking specific, result orientated, this is what I do ___________ and it will help you ____________.

This lightworkers, I believe, is one of the biggest show stoppers to moving forward in our businesses to attract clients/customers and to make money doing what we're called to do.

We've got to get this part down. Knowing without a doubt, being crystal clear in what we do and how we show up, will allow us to create the energy within ourselves to attract those clients/customers. And this is more important than anything else.

If we're not feeling/knowing/being it, we aren't going to attract our clients/customers.

This is the foundation we need to be able to do anything else - websites, social media, events, networking, email marketing,...
