What Photo Are You Using in Your Marketing Materials?

Photos.  You either love having your photo taken or you don't.  But one thing for sure, they are important when you are building your business.  People want to see who you are, they want to get a feel for your energy.  And I have to tell you, some people really mess this one up.

How many times have you seen someone's photo on social media, like Facebook and then you meet them for the first time and you're like "What?"

This picture is from stock photos that I created, but the crazy thing is.....I've seen this in real life. With a lot of marketing moving towards video, this is highlighted even more when people go live or post recorded videos.  Their profile photo looks like the one on the left and when they show up on camera we see the person on the right.   You're wondering if its the same person, right?  Same goes when you meet them in person. 

Now, some of you may think this is no biggie. But it is. You're creating a brand, really, you are. And you want to be consistent in every area - like photos.

My recommendation is to use a more recent photo of yourself. Don't use a photo from 5, 10 or more years ago.

You are who you are now - be proud of that.

And if you don't normally wear a ton of makeup, don't wear a ton in your photo. People relate to the realness of who we are, so stay true to you.

Take a look at your profile photo on Facebook and all the photos you are using in your marketing such as websites, social media profiles, brochures, etc. If your photo doesn't really look like who you are today, its time for a redo.

Oh, one more thing. Make sure your photos are high quality, clear, and have good lighting.

And for full disclosure here - I really dislike having my photo taken.  I have them done because it's important for my business.  I think this is a whole topic in of itself that needs to be addressed another time.  But for now, just do it.  It gets easier the more you do it.
